Three stoneware dinnerware sets by Töpferkunst compared: Color, Color Pure and Color Square side-by-side on a wooden table

Color, Color Pure and Color Square – three collections by Töpferkunst. Three characters, one promise.

Handmade stoneware is trending – and at Töpferkunst, you have a choice of three strong collections. All fired at over 1,200 °C, all dishwasher safe, all unique due to reactive glaze. But which one suits you?

This comparison shows you differences in shape, glaze, and design language – directly juxtaposed. Feel free to also visit the homepage to discover the entire range.

Each piece is unique. The reactive glaze reacts with the clay during firing – no two plates are exactly alike. This is not a flaw; it is the essence of true craftsmanship.

Material & Quality

What is Stoneware Dinnerware – and why is it so popular?

Stoneware dinnerware is robust, thick-walled ceramic tableware that is fired at high temperatures and then glazed. It is suitable for everyday use, dishwasher safe, and has a warmer look than porcelain.

What makes Töpferkunst stoneware special: Each collection is handcrafted – in small manufactories, by artisans who have known their craft for generations. The reactive glaze ensures that no two pieces are alike.

Stoneware vs. Porcelain – the difference

Stoneware: more robust, thick-walled, warmer in appearance – ideal for everyday use. Porcelain: finer, lighter, translucent – more for festive occasions. Töpferkunst technically uses stoneware (fired at over 1,200 °C) – the more robust of the two materials.

Questions

Stoneware is fired at 900–1,200 °C and is more robust and thick-walled than porcelain. Porcelain is fired at up to 1,450 °C, is finer, lighter, and translucent. Stoneware is ideal for everyday use, porcelain more for festive occasions. Töpferkunst uses high-quality stoneware – the more robust of the material group.

Color Pure is the most versatile: The matte monochrome pieces in olive green and deep blue can be combined with almost any table decoration. The timeless design fits equally well into minimalist, Scandinavian, and natural living styles – and can be easily mixed with the other collections.

Yes, all three collections – Color, Color Pure, and Color Square – are dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and oven safe. Firing at over 1,200 °C permanently bonds the glaze and clay. There is no coating that could peel off.
